Full Access Virtual Private Network (VPN) Acceptable Use Agreement:
Full Access Virtual Private Network (VPN) services are provided for faculty and staff who have a legitimate need to access internal (nonpublic) systems and information technology resources from an offsite location. These resources are intended to support the educational, instructional, research, and administrative activities of the institution and their use is granted as a privilege. These resources are the property of the state of Georgia and the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia.
I agree to the following:
(1) I will act in accordance with the IT Acceptable Use policy, IT Password Protection policy, and related IT policies while using the VPN. Further, I will act in accordance with the IT Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy if I connect to the VPN using a device that has not been issued to me by Georgia Highlands College. I understand that all other policies of the institution are applicable when I connect to the VPN, whether using a GHC-issued device or a personally-owned device.
(2) I have read the list of sanctioned entities and restricted uses of the VPN software at http://www.cisco.com/wwl/export/compliance_provision.html. I understand that the distribution of this software is restricted. I will not use or distribute the software in Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Libya, North Korea, Sudan, or Syria or in any way that is otherwise contrary to the law.
(3) I will use my employee single sign-on (SSO) account credentials to access the VPN and I will not share my credentials with another person or use another employee’s credentials to access the VPN. I will protect my VPN access and any devices the VPN software is installed on from unauthorized use. I understand that my VPN access is related to my employment and my job responsibilities and that my VPN access may be restricted or revoked without prior notice if my employment status or job responsibilities change.
Full Access VPN Use With Personally-owned Devices:
I understand that connecting to the VPN from a personally-owned device is no different than physically bringing the device to a GHC campus and connecting to GHC’s internal network. As such, I have taken the proper precautions by ensuring my personally-owned device is in compliance with the IT Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy. This includes ensuring the device (1) has an up-to-date version of Windows, mac OS, Android, iOS, or Linux operating system, (2) has functioning, up-to-date security (antivirus) software, (3) is capable of receiving operating system security updates and is not designated as “end of support” or “end of life” by its manufacturer, and (4) has effective logical access protection in the form of a password, passcode, security card or hardware token, and/or biometric technology such as facial recognition or fingerprint scan. Users with noncompliant devices may have their access revoked without prior notice.
Any employee found to have violated this agreement may have their account privileges suspended, terminated, or be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment and/or criminal prosecution.
