GHC to host UGA Extensions 2016 School Garden Teacher Training in Cartersville
Thursday (JUNE 16), Georgia Highlands College will host the UGA Extension's 2016 School Garden Teacher Training program on the Cartersville campus.
Over 30 local teachers will be participating. UGA extension staff and GHC faculty/staff will also take part.
Teachers will be learning through hands-on workshops how to start a school garden. Topics covered include healthy soil; planting for the school calendar; basic pest management; food safety in the school garden and lesson plans using the garden.
The event is organized by: Becky Griffin, Community and School Garden Coordinator, and Paul Pugliese, Bartow County Extension Officer. GHC will host.
