GHC partners with Georgia Department of Transportation for DriveAlert ArriveAlive campaign
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) reported that 1,395 people were killed on Georgia’s roads last year—225 more fatalities than in 2014. This was the first annual increase in a decade. But what’s more alarming is that 74 percent of those fatal crashes were a result of distracted driving.
Georgia Highlands College has partnered with the GDOT in a statewide safety campaign called DriveAlert Arrive Alive. GHC will be hosting GDOT at each of its five campuses.
GDOT’s program will educate drivers about changes they can make in their driving behavior to reduce crashes by eliminating distractions and increasing safety by wearing a seatbelt.
This event is free and open to the public. GDOT will be on the following campuses at the following dates and times:
Cartersville: March 21 at 11:30AM-1:30PM
Douglasville: March 22 at 9AM-11AM
Paulding: March 22 at 1PM-3PM
Marietta: March 23, 2016 at 10AM-12PM
Rome: April 5 at 10:30AM-12:30PM
