Green Highlands Etowah River Refuse Rally removes 600 pounds of refuse from river

The Etowah River is a little cleaner now thanks to over 30 volunteers, including many Georgia Highlands College students, who participated in an Etowah River Refuse Rally.

GHC student organization Green Highlands sponsored the event and partnered with Euharlee Creek Outfitters and Keep Bartow Beautiful.

Green Highlands deployed crews to two different sections of the Etowah River. The Section One team paddled from Douthit Ferry to Floyd's Landing and the Section Two team covered the stretch from Euharlee to Hardin Bridge. Another crew also worked to clean the river bank at Hardin Bridge.

Around 600 pounds of refuse was retrieved from the Etowah River.
