Dean Daugherty retires after years of service to GHC

Rome – Sept. 11, 2014

Donna Daugherty, a well-respected member of Georgia Highlands College, retired Sept.1. She will be remembered fondly for her remarkable career, meaningful contributions and dedicated leadership. Her service, which remained steady through many leadership transitions, was greatly appreciated and will be missed.

Over the course of three decades, Daugherty advanced from part-time instructor in medical laboratory technology to dean of the natural sciences and physical education division.

In January 1982, she was hired on an as-needed basis. Eleven years later, Daugherty became an assistant professor of biology and in January 2007 she was named acting chair of the science division. By July, she accepted a position as the interim chair of the science and physical education division, where she remained until 2012. Her final designation as dean continued from July 2012 to September 2014.
