GHC appoints two new deans

Georgia Highlands College has announced the appointment of Dr. Tim Floyd as the new dean of Mathematics. They also announced the appointment of Dr. Alan Nichols as the new dean of the Social Science, Business, and Education divisions.
Dr. Nichols has been with Georgia Highlands since 2004, when he came to the college as an Instructor of Philosophy. Prior to that time, he taught at Georgia Perimeter College and Georgia State University. Dr. Nichols has also served as the Coordinator of Educational Program Assessment at Georgia Highlands. Dr. Nichols earned his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Missouri.
Dr. Floyd has a long history in the educational field. He was originally hired at Georgia Highlands (then Floyd College) in 1989 as an Instructor of Mathematics. He has served in various capacities at the college over the years, including Director of Institutional Effectiveness and chair of the Academic Success Division. He has also held positions at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (then Coosa Valley Technical College) and Rockmart High School. Dr. Floyd earned his Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Alabama.
Both will begin their new duties on July 1.
