Workshop Promotes Outdoor Ethics
GHC-Cartersville Hosts Leave No Trace
Georgia Highlands College’s student environmental group Green Highlands is hosting traveling educators from Leave No Trace on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 12:30 and 6:30 p.m. in room 102-A of the new student center. Leave No Trace is a national organization that promotes outdoor ethics and responsibility. The hour-long program will show attendees how to maintain a pristine outdoor environment as they hike, camp and enjoy the outdoors.
The workshop is free and open to the general public. The event will also include light refreshments, giveaways and a prize drawing.
Leave No Trace is a member-driven organization that teaches people of all ages how to enjoy the outdoor environment more responsibly. It tries to build and support community-based membership and education-driven programs for young people, who comprise the next generation of environmental stewards. The organization also promotes its practices in close-to-home and day-use areas, because these are the places most people frequent for recreation.
